Polyneuropathy
When the nerves no longer lead

“I have an unpleasant tingling sensation in my feet”, ”My lower legs are always cold”, ”When someone strokes my skin, I can’t feel it.”

This or something similar is how people with polyneuropathy experience their disturbing insensations

In polyneuropathy, several nerves are always affected. These can be nerve fibers that transmit movements or sensations, sometimes both at the same time. Most often, polyneuropathy manifests itself at the outer ends of the limbs, on the hands and feet, and less frequently near the body. There are symmetrical and asymmetrical forms.

And it doesn’t matter whether the triggers are diabetes, alcohol abuse, medications such as anticancer drugs, other toxins, or various infections, or whether there is no cause at all.

How does Vedic Medicine view polyneuropathy?

Polyneuropathy from an Ayurvedic point of view.

According to the Maharishi Ayurveda approach, polyneuropathy starts with the loss of natural balance.

Metabolic residues and toxins, called “ama” in Ayurveda, are constantly produced – due to our way of life – which, in the case of polyneuropathy, accumulate in the nerve fibers of the body periphery and disturb the transmission of nerve impulses. Insufficient supply of nutrients can break down the sheathing of the nerve fibers and produce the well-known insensations and loss of function.

But according to Ayurveda, no two patients are alike, and so every polyneuropathy is different. The Ayurvedic approach in our clinic is based on holism.

What can Ayurveda do for you?

In Vedic medicine, polyneuropathy is addressed by combining various treatments into a multi-faceted approach adapted to your individual situation, as determined in a comprehensive diagnosis by one of our physicians.

An integrated approach

Increasingly, patients are finding that conventional therapies alone are not enough.

They recognize that the path to recovery must take place at all levels. In the case of polyneuropathy, for example, the focus can be on the elimination of toxins and the balancing of the nervous system. It is important to bring the natural regulatory principles back into a necessary balance. Dietary recommendations, helpful exercises as well as special herbal mixtures – all put together especially for you – help you to lead a more conscious lifestyle. So that your natural self-healing powers can effectively mitigate the symptoms of polyneuropathy.
