Angina pectoris
When the chest feels like it is constricted

“At first I thought I had stomach pain,” “The pressure radiates from my heart to my stomach and neck,” “Sometimes the pain is between my shoulder blades.”

This is how those affected by chest tightness experience their painful attacks. In most cases, the symptoms only occur during physical or mental stress – they pass within a few minutes if the patient allows himself to rest.

The most common cause is constriction of one or more coronary vessels. These are the vessels that surround the heart muscle like a network and supply it with blood. If the coronary vessels are narrowed due to hardening of the arteries (arteriosclerosis), the heart muscle no longer receives sufficient oxygen and nutrients – angina pectoris develops.

How does Vedic Medicine view angina pectoris?

Heart gene from ayurvedic point of view

According to Maharishi Ayurveda, the cause of angina pectoris is the loss of natural balance.

Metabolic residues and toxins, called “ama” in Ayurveda, are constantly produced – due to our way of life – which in the case of angina pectoris have accumulated, especially in the coronary arteries.

Every patient knows that stress and an unstable nervous system can act as amplifiers and on-again-off-again triggers of the familiar symptoms.

But according to Ayurveda, no two patients are alike, and so the reasons for angina pectoris are different for everyone. The Ayurvedic approach in our clinic is based on holism.
