Maharishi Mahesh Yogi, physicist and Indian sage, was regarded during his lifetime as the foremost expert in the study and development of consciousness.
With his initiative, not only Ayurveda but also other Vedic sciences have been restored and brought into the context of modern scientific discoveries.

After his passing on 8 February 2008 at a ripe old age, Maharishi was honoured by the government of India, his native land, with a state funeral on the banks of the Ganges, at a place rich in tradition, near Allahabad, for his contribution to the welfare of the whole world.
