EBB AND FLOW OF KNOWLEDGE – THE JOURNEY OF AYURVEDA
An ancient system
In centuries past, the vision of the wise was nothing less than the creation of a disease-free society that lives in harmony with the environment. They had a holistic understanding of nature’s intelligence that is inherent in every living thing and which governs the entire universe.
Holding the knowledge
When mankind lost this wisdom within their own consciousness, the Rishis (wise men, or seers) started to write down the recited ancient texts. By doing so, the knowledge and with it the treatments, therapies, and herbal formulas of Ayurveda were preserved in Sanskrit, the ancient language of humanity.
The “mother of medical science” – almost lost and forgotten
Traditional families have preserved important aspects of Ayurveda faithfully over the centuries. However, the totality of it became fragmented. Its wholeness and depth were in jeopardy of being lost.
The new beginning
At the end of the 1970s, the Veda and Science project of Maharishi Mahesh Yogi at last brought together scientists and medical experts from the East and the West. During many years of painstaking work, they succeeded in restoring the scattered parts of the mosaic to its full potential and giving consciousness its rightful place as the basis of balance for mind and body.
This is how the complete revival of Ayurveda has come about. Now it has become available throughout the world and the name Maharishi Ayurveda is recognized as a source of the highest quality treatments and products.
