An ancient system

In centuries past, the vision of the wise was nothing less than the creation of a disease-free society that lives in harmony with the environment. They had a holistic understanding of nature’s intelligence that is inherent in every living thing and which governs the entire universe.

Holding the knowledge

When mankind lost this wisdom within their own consciousness, the Rishis (wise men, or seers) started to write down the recited ancient texts. By doing so, the knowledge and with it the treatments, therapies, and herbal formulas of Ayurveda were preserved in Sanskrit, the ancient language of humanity.

The “mother of medical science” – almost lost and forgotten

Traditional families have preserved important aspects of Ayurveda faithfully over the centuries. However, the totality of it became fragmented. Its wholeness and depth were in jeopardy of being lost.

The new beginning

At the end of the 1970s, the Veda and Science project of Maharishi Mahesh Yogi at last brought together scientists and medical experts from the East and the West. During many years of painstaking work, they succeeded in restoring the scattered parts of the mosaic to its full potential and giving consciousness its rightful place as the basis of balance for mind and body.

This is how the complete revival of Ayurveda has come about. Now it has become available throughout the world and the name Maharishi Ayurveda is recognized as a source of the highest quality treatments and products.

Maharishi Mahesh Yogi

Maharishi Mahesh Yogi’s vision:

“In the future, Ayurveda will be seen as the most developed system for perfect health, and this for prevention as well as cure. A highly developed health program, a profound system for maintaining perfect health, because it is based on consciousness. It takes into account mind, body, senses, and the entire environment. It takes into account all levels of manifested life and also the holistic value of life that pervades all these different levels. And this is the self-referral state of pure consciousness.”

Who was Maharishi?

During his lifetime, Maharishi Mahesh Yogi, physicist and Vedic sage, was considered the world’s leading expert in the field of human consciousness and its development.

He inspired and guided the renewal of Ayurveda and all other Vedic traditions of knowledge and connected them with modern scientific insights.

Consciousness-based healthcare rediscovered – Maharishi AyurVeda

Maharishi re-assembled the knowledge of Ayurveda, which had been scattered over the centuries, into a living wholeness and reinstated consciousness as the key healing factor.

This comprehensive form of Ayurveda is now known and appreciated all over the world under the name Maharishi AyurVeda.

Health, vitality, creativity, and joy of living

Through Maharishi’s contribution, a modern, holistic healthcare system has been created, which has already helped millions of people to achieve an increase in health, vitality, creativity and joy of living, as well as a reduction of fear, stress, and psychosomatic disorders.

After his passing away at a ripe old age on 8 February 2008, the government of his native country, India, honored Maharishi Mahesh Yogi with a state funeral at a tradition-rich location on the banks of the Ganges.
